Event: A conversation with Charles Movalli and Dale Ratcliff

Description: Join a conversation with two of the region's most significant artists. Holder of a PhD. in English, Gloucester painter Charles Movalli uses dramatic brushwork to capture the essence of a scene. A student of Emille Gruppe, Movalli has received more than fifty awards for his vibrant work. He has been a contributing editor to American Artist magazine, for which he eventually produced over 70 articles on art and artists. His writing was not restricted to this publication. His articles have appeared in Southern Accents, Southern Boating, and in The American Art Review. In addition, his own work was featured in American Artist; other examples can be found in Frank Webb's Dynamic Composition, Wendon Blake's Artists Guide to Using Color and Stephen Doherty's Handbook to Landscape Painting.

Description: This is the Festival’s marquee event. Sixteen truly inspirational artists will place their work in sixteen of Kennebunkport’s historic Inns and Hotels. During the tour, guests will be offered the chance to speak with artists about their work and with Innkeepers about their beautiful Inns. Guests who make it to each of the host Inns will be entered in a drawing to win a signed, limited edition festival print.

Event: The Children’s Festival

Location: The Nonantum Resort on Ocean Avenue
Description: Norman Rockwell would be proud. Children, parents, lemonade, sugar cookies, crafting, grand prizes - This is small town USA. Please join the children of the Kennebunks as they display their fine sculpture, painting, photography and other artistic creations at the first annual Children’s Festival. Kids ages 5-12 will display their creations at the Nonantum Resort on Ocean Avenue for this one day event. Judges will award prizes for the “winner” of each category, including a grand prize, seating for four on the Pineapple Ketch! This is not your average art opening...there will be fun to be had by all with craft stations, yummy snacks and much much more! We’ll see you there!

Event: Regional Plein Air Painters Invitational Opening Reception at The Gallery on Chase Hill

Location: The Gallery on Chase Hill
Description: The Gallery on Chase Hill will sponsor and host the regional “Plein Air Painters Invitational” from Saturday, June 7th, through Thursday, July 3rd. The show will include twenty of the regions most significant plein air painters, displaying both wet paint and studio pieces from each artist. As part of the Arts in the Inns 2008 event, the plein air painters will set up their easels at various locations as they capture the inspirational scenery that our special piece of the Maine coast has to offer. This “Paint Out” will take place from June 4th – 7th. There will be an opening reception Saturday night from 4-6 pm, where guests will have a chance to meet the artists while they view and consider each artist’s work, including those produced during the “Paint Out." Join us for this exciting event!

Description: Cocktail parties hosted by acclaimed artists such as William B. Hoyt and Sally Caldwell Fisher. Guests will have the opportunity to query the artists about their craft while enjoying the hospitality of Kennebunkport’s Innkeepers. Limited tickets will be offered to outside guests.

Event: Lobster Rolls and Blueberry Pie at The Seaside, featuring Chef Rebecca Charles

Description: Come meet Chef Rebecca Charles of New York's legendary Pearl Oyster Bar and enjoy lobster rolls, chowder and blueberry crumble pie at the historic Seaside Inn on Gooch's Beach. You will receive a complimentary copy (per couple) of Chef Charles' book, Lobster Rolls & Blueberry Pie: Three Generations of Stories and Recipes from Summers on the Coast of Maine, which she will be only too happy to sign.

Event: Hinckley Yachts presents Top Chef’s Sam Talbot and his take on a traditional Maine Clambake

Description: Festival foodies will rejoice when they hear that Top Chef finalist and fan favorite, Chef Sam Talbot, will be in town to share his version of a traditional Maine Clambake. Recently named one of NYC’s 12 sexiest chefs, Sam will be on hand to share his food philosophy and to guide guests through his multi-course dinner. It’s conceivable that this event is the only one that could possibly upstage the spectacular setting at the edge of the Kennebunk River. Hosted by the Hinckley Company.
